The 3rd expedition ship "Silver Discoverer" joined "Silversea Expeditions" fleet in March 2014 for itineraries in Micronesia, Melanesia, Polynesia, Russian Far East, Australia New Zealand. The chartered vessel has a glass-bottom tour boat, Zodiacs (large motorized boats used for landings), snorkeling and dive program (with complimentary equipment). In May 2019, Silver Discoverer was sold to CroisiEurope, joining the fleet in 2020-Q1 under the name La Belle des Oceans. Silversea's cruise ships carry 298 to 608 passengers; its expedition vessels carry 100 to 254 passengers. On the classic cruise side, the line has the smallest ships (Silver Wind, Shadow and Whisper) compared to luxury competitors such as Seabourn, Regent and Crystal. Although the vessels are small, they feel roomy, thanks to the low passenger count.

In May 2019, CroisiEurope (one of Europe's largest river cruise companies) announced the acquisition of Silver Discoverer (1989-built). Joining CroisiEurope's fleet in 2020-Q1, the ship will be renamed La Belle des Oceans. The French company currently owns one sea-going vessel - the 2007-built La Belle de l'Adriatique. For example, once you hit 350 days, you are eligible for a complimentary seven-day voyage.
With its first ship (Silver Cloud), Silversea pioneered as an all-inclusive passenger shipping company on May 30th (1994) when Silver Cloud was christened in Monte Carlo (Monaco). Currently, Silversea's schedule list 900+ destinations (ports and islands) all over the world. By 2024, the brand's fleet capacity (11x vessels) will increase 56% in comparison to 2020 (pre-COVID). Silversea’s small luxury ships are designed for those who delight in discovery and indulge in luxury. All our ships feature spacious, ocean-view suites with butler service, and most include private verandas, meaning you can sip your champagne from the comfort of your deck while watching the vistas beyond. Whether you want to gaze at icebergs or palm trees, the choice is yours.
There is a reason why Alaska is everyone's first port of call when dreaming of a luxury cruise. The frozen landscape will overwhelm and astonish; the rugged beauty will humble; the endemic wildlife and evergreen forests are a journey of breathtaking encounters with the natural world. The Observation Library boasts exceptional views overlooking the ocean as it stretches out below you while you enjoy your cruise.
Gratuities and personalised service onboard
Silversea also offers special fares for single travelers on select excursions, which provides a discount instead of paying the full cost of a double-occupancy cabin. Those wishing to depart from the West Coast can set sail from San Francisco or Los Angeles. Ships from these ports travel to the Caribbean, Alaska, Canada and other far-flung destinations. Some room categories, such as the ultra-luxurious Otium Suite, are exclusive to Silversea's newest ship, Silver Nova. Others are found across the fleet, although accommodations on board each vessel may differ slightly. With 20-brand new Zodiacs, four superlative restaurants in Antarctica and a pole-to-pole expedition itinerary, Silver Cloud really does break the ice between expedition and luxury.
Get a taste for the authentic and settle down to enjoy locally-inspired cocktails and drinks. Silversea’s much-loved casual dining restaurants serves a delectable range of burgers and salads by day, and turns into our famous Hot Rocks table BBQ concept by night. Experience the harmony of flavours and aesthetics with our enhanced Kaiseki dining experience. Delight in the fusion of Washoku’s culinary heritage and health benefits, where each meticulously crafted dish is a work of art. If you have ever wanted to indulge in one of our epitomes of ultra-luxury cruising, then the Grand Suite is perhaps the answer. The eponymous Owner’s Suite is a Venetian Society favourite.
So, why not travel in this stylish suite and get a taste of the ultimate in luxury lifestyle. Silver Muse also sails a fascinating route between Cairns, Australia, and Auckland, visiting the Great Barrier Reef; Noumea, New Caledonia's capital; and remote Mystery Island in Vanuatu. Expect to choose between several excursions from New Zealand's Bay of Islands. Ignite your passion to explore the world and discover exciting destinations. For any cruises listed, Cruise Critic does not guarantee any specific rates or prices.
This superb open-air sky bar provides plenty of space for guests to enjoy a pre or post dinner drink. La Terrazza aboard Silver Nova offers an unparalleled destination dining experience, from its expansive floor-to-ceiling windows to its large, outdoor terrace. Enjoy destination-inspired menus, including the Terrain menu, which offers recipes and flavours specific to the port visited, and the Voyage menu, which draws inspiration from the best flavours of the voyage. With Silversea offering most of the world on a silver platter, the challenge becomes choosing a sole destination. Here, we offer five regions where Silversea consistently shines, promising a cruise meeting — if not exceeding — anyone's idea of a dream vacation.
Silversea dives deep into South Pacific offerings, with five classic ships and two expedition vessels presenting itineraries to a whopping 150 destinations. With two Silversea expedition ships — Silver Cloud and Silver Wind — cruising the Arctic, you can count on plenty of choice in this rugged, bucket list destination. The 254-passenger twin expedition vessels deliver a multitude of itineraries and voyage lengths from late May through early October. Onboard, each Silversea cruise ship has a pool and hot tubs that see a lot of action, and the spa gets a lot of use, as well. Silversea cruisers also enjoy attending lectures on the culture and history of the destinations they visit, and like to spend time in the library.
